Chinese loropetalum is an evergreen, multi-stemmed shrub in the witch-hazel family. It bears dark green, small, heart-shaped, overlapping leaves – the new foliage appearing in late Summer or Autumn – and fragrant white, pink or red spidery flowers in Winter into Spring. This plant will tolerate temperatures down to -5 deg.C, but no lower than that, and so in colder areas the shrub should be grown in a container, so that it can be moved into a cold greenhouse, or conservatory, for the colder months.. ‘Plum Gorgeous’ has plum coloured foliage. In spring and again in autumn it is smothered in bright magenta tassled flowers. Ideal for low hedging as well as a feature plant in a container. New:
