Dense clump forming plant with hollow grass like leaves bluey/green in colour and produces purple/pink clusters of flowers on erect stems in the spring and summer. Both the leaves and stalks are edible but do not cut right down to the ground when harvesting as they need them to keep the plants growing and healthy. ‘Forescate’ is a large-flowered variety that bears a ball of pink-purple, edible flowers that should not be allowed to set seed, as any seeds will not grow true to the variety – they will revert to common chives. The flowers make very good cut flowers
